Vincentian Fathers Association of Scholars in Cuba Sends Message of Solidarity with the Cuban Five.
ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES, September 20, 2011.- During the event in solidarity with our Five Heroes on the occasion of 13th anniversary of their unjust imprisonment, held at "Peace Memorial Hall” theater, in Kingstown, was transmitted the following message on behalf of the Vincentian Fathers Association of Scholars in Cuba, which it undertook to sent to the U.S. government, asking it to release our 5 Heroes:
“Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion against an individual or individuals. It has been at the center of world politics, trade and relations and has had a negative impact on the lives of countless persons worldwide, and is still continuing to do so ever since the horrific acts of September 11th 2001. Anti-terrorism is the act of preventing terrorist actions from taking place.
Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González were intelligence officers seeking to protect their country and fellow countrymen from being the targets of terrorist attacks originating from terrorist groups based in the US State of Florida. Their actions though just have been misconstrued and deemed as committing espionage and conspiracy against the United States, along with other related charges.
On behalf of all the parents of students studying in Cuba, we the executive committee would like to express our combined solidarity with the Cuban government on this the 13th year of the wrongful imprisonment of the five Cuban intelligence officers, “The Cuban Five”, in Miami Florida.
We hope that these charges be dropped and justice served in a time now where justice, principle and integrity is even more of a demand and more so, a requirement for continued and prosperous development”. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba St Vincent and the Grenadines)
