Anti-imperialist Tribunal Condemns Blockade against Cuba.

CUBA, 21st, December 2010.- The Anti-imperialist Tribunal, held within the program of the World Festival of Youth and Students, demanded the lifting of the economic blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years and the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned in the US since 1998.

According to the Granma newspaper, the jury found imperialism guilty of poverty, illegal blockades, ongoing wars, threats to world peace, nuclear bombs, arbitrary detentions, encouragement of violence, and damages to the environment, among many other issues.

A member of the South African Supreme Court and president of the Tribunal, Andile Mnxitama, expressed his gratitude for the struggle of the Cuban people throughout these years against imperialism, reports the Juventud Rebelde newspaper.

Mnxitama said that Cuba is an example for its honesty and way of living, and added that thanks to many Cubans who died here, South Africa enjoys freedom today.

Juventud Rebelde also mentions the speech by Yoerkis Sanchez, who, on behalf of the Cuban delegation, read a declaration on the possible danger of another nuclear war.

On the declaration, she pointed out the efforts of Cuba and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, who has warned on countless occasions on the dangers of new Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Sanchez stated that the youth movement worldwide in conjunction with the international community demand a world without nuclear weapons, and stand for an international convention to eliminate them.

The president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, Kenia Serrano, noted that imperialism also promotes the violation of human rights.

The Festival, underway in Pretoria, wraps up on Tuesday with a march from the Tshawne Events Center to the Union Buildings, the official seat of the South African government. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
