Machado Ventura: Greetings from Fidel and Raul to the ALBA Summit
CUBA, October 16, 2009. The First Vice-President of the Cuban Councils of State and Ministers, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, gave participants in the 7th ALBA Summit on Friday greetings from Revolution leader Fidel Castro and Cuban President Raul Castro.
While addressing delegates at the inaugural ceremony of this meeting of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) underway in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Machado Ventura, who is also a Politburo member, praised the personal history of struggle of the host president, Evo Morales, Venezolana de Television reports.
“It’s a personal history full of merits, sacrifices for his people and social struggle, highlighted the top Cuban official.
Likewise, Machado Ventura expressed his confidence in the success of the Summit, and expressed the decision of all participants to face the current regional and international challenges.
ALBA, an initiative by Fidel and Hugo Chavez, was officially created five years ago, and since then it has demonstrated its efficient vigor, expressed in dozens of economic and social projects and others of cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the nine nations presently making up the organization.
