Paraguay's Lugo to ALBA Summit
PARAGUAY, April 15, 2009. Paraguayan president Fernando Lugo has confirmed his attendance at the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) summit set for this week in Cumana, Venezuela.
After this important meeting of Latin American integration scheduled from April 16-17, Lugo will go to 5th Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago.
The ALBA Summit will include presidents of member countries Hugo Chavez (Venezuela), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Manuel Zelaya (Honduras) and Evo Morales (Bolivia), Dominica Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit and a representative of Cuba.
Chavez announced the presence in Cumana of his Ecuadorian counterpart, Rafael Correa, who will also attend as special guest.
Chavex said the Bolivarian Alternative summit is especially important, two days before the Summit of the Americas, for which the heads of state will try to form a common platform in the spirit of ALBA.
He also informed that there will be debates on the creation of a regional currency that has already been given the name of Sucre. The savage model of capitalism has awakened our inventive creativity, said the Venezuelan president. (Cubaminrex. PL)
