Argentina Says End Blockade of Cuba ARGENTINA, April 17, 2009.- The region is calling to end the US blockade against Cuba, said Argentina Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana. Before leaving with President Cristina Fernandez for the 5th Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago, Taiana said his country supports the demand and has voted against the US policy at the UN General Assembly. The matter centers hemispheric attention and Argentina is watches closely, he said, adding that the new US Administration is showing interest in changing its policy towards Cuba. Taiana called the blockade illegal and politically counterproductive, adding that his country is against exclusions in the region, something it has been saying for many years. Jorge Taiana finally said that working on common regional affairs with mutual respect, equality, respect for sovereignty, non interference and democracy will help progress.
