The Anniversaries of the UJC and of the Cuban Pioneers Organization is Celebrated in Belize

Belize, April 8, 2009. With activities in all districts of Belize, the anniversary of the UJC and the OPJM was celebrated. Among the participants were the Cuban collaborators, members of the solidarity clubs, Cuban residents in Belize, the Association of Parents of Belizean students who are training in Cuba and members of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission.

The activities were initiated with the participation in the Youth Forum on the second of April and included voluntary work, mobile clinics, sports and cultural events, which will continue during all the month of April and conclude with the Celebration of the X Anniversary of The Comprehensive Health Program in Belize. As part of the initiatives letters were sent to the National Bureau of the UJC and political cultural simultaneous activities in all districts. A special moment was the attention rendered by our doctors to over 200 Central American children that are participating in an international campout in Belize.

The Cuban Ambassador Manuel Rubido participated in the day activities carried out in San Ignacio, Cayo District and in the Central Act in Belize City. At this last event, our collaborators jointly with Belizean friends, read poems and made a photographic exhibit were the central theme were the sons and daughters of our medical personnel in Belize along with dance displays.

During the conclusions the Cuban Ambassador stressed the need to achieve higher goals, remembering our combat traditions. He expressed that today the hearts of 5 young Cubans, prisoners in US dungeons, beat along with all our people celebrating the 4 of April and concluded expressing symbolically “… our glorious national anthem was written on the saddle of a Mambi horse; we have inherited that combat spirit during 200 years of struggle. Our children must receive that legacy inspired by our eternal young communists: our Commander in Chief Fidel and our President Raul…”
