Raúl Has Extensive Meeting with President Correa

CUBA, August 27th, 2009.- President Raúl Castro Ruz had an extensive meeting with Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa Delgado on Tuesday as part of a private visit to our country by the leader of that sister South American nation.

In this way, the two leaders continued the dialogue that they began during their first meeting in Brazil in December 2008, on the occasion of the summits taking place there.

The conversation continued a few days later when President Correa made an official visit to Cuba and continued last July when Raúl attended the swearing-in ceremony for the Ecuadorian president following the latter’s victory in the elections that took place after the new constitution was announced.

Raúl and Correa expressed their satisfaction at the positive and growing bilateral links between the two nations. They also assessed the international situation, particularly the issues of most concern to Latin America and the Caribbean today.

Also present at the meeting was Mrs. Anne Malherbe, President Correa’s wife. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
