Cubans in Russia Back Anti-U.S. Blockade Statement

Moscow, December 28 -- On the first anniversary of the Association of Cuban Residents in Russia, participants approved a statement rejecting the US blockade on Cuba. They were also celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

The document, read by the organization's President Bernardo Torres, states the group’s strong rejection of that genocidal policy, which has been deplored by an overwhelming majority of countries. In their statement, they also urge for the release of the five antiterrorists Cuban fighters imprisoned in the United States for the past 11 years.

The group expressed its solidarity with Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzales, Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero, unjustly incarcerated for defending the physical integrity and peace of mind of Cubans.

In their statement, the group recalls the 713 terrorist acts against Cuba, organized and financed from the United States that have resulted in 1,748 deaths and 2,099 disabled people.

The Big Family in Russia, as the Association calls itself, reaffirmed its decision to continue defending the invincible Cuban Revolution.

It also demanded total, unconditional and unrestrictive respect of Cuba’s sovereignty and independence, and an end to terrorist actions aimed at toppling the Revolution.

The Association is expected to take part in the event against terrorism and for National Sovereignty to be held in Havana in January 2010. (cubaminrex - RHC)
