QATAR, December 14, 2009.- As an example of the solid ties of friendship and cooperation that characterize relations between the two friendly countries, was established in this capital in a simple but solemn ceremony the Qatar-Cuba Friendship Association. The relevance lies in the fact that precisely at a date like today, but 20 years ago, the governments of Qatar and Cuba, decided to establish diplomatic relations, which have distinguished throughout this period, for being close, warm and exemplary. The establishment ceremony of the Qatar-Cuba Friendship Association took place today in the morning at the headquarters of the Central Municipal Council, was chaired by Hon. Mr. Naser Abdullah Saied Al Amer Al-Kaabi Chairman of the Council, and by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the State of Qatar, Armando Vergara Bueno. Briefly the Cuban Ambassador thanked the gesture towards his people, who will always honor the sincere friendship achieved over two decades, characterized by mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields including health, sport, culture, investment, among others and reciprocated the gesture by congratulating the noble people of Qatar on the occasion of National Day on December18, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
