CUBA, January 20, 2009. Argentina"s Head of State Cristina Fernandez continues Tuesday her working agenda in Cuba, with a meeting with People"s Power National Assembly (Parliament) President Ricardo Alarcon. Fernandez talked Monday with Cuban President Raul Castro, as part of her visit to this Caribbean nation, and laid a wreath at the monument erected to the island"s National Hero Jose Marti at the Havana"s Revolution Square. His agenda today also includes attending the closing ceremony of the Cuban-Argentinean managerial meeting, and giving a magisterial lecture at the Aula Magna hall of the Havana University. The parties inked yesterday 11 accords of cooperation, among them the reciprocal suppression of visa in diplomatic, official and service passports. Also included were a memorandum of understanding in humanitarian assistance and the prevention and mitigation of catastrophes, as well as an act on the state of the scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries. Other accords were trade promotion and transference of technology on international trade matter, and the collaboration in labor and health. The remaining accords were on energy, mining and geology, agriculture, cattle breeding, foods, afforestation, and rural development. Fernandez will be in this capital until January 21, and her visit will foster ties of friendship, cooperation and bilateral links. (Cubaminrex- PL)
