Argentina’s President Pays Tribute to Cuban National Hero

CUBA, January 19, 2009. Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner paid tribute today to Cuban National Hero, Jose Marti, as she began an official visit to Havana.

In the ceremony, the Argentinean president placed a floral wreath by the monument to Marti, located in the Revolution Square in Havana. Kirchner also visited the museum dedicated to the Cuban National Hero.

Kirchner, who traveled to Cuba at the invitation of her counterpart President Raul Castro, was accompanied on her tribute to Marti by Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque.

Argentina has always supported Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly by backing the Cuban resolutions against the US economic blockade of the island. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
