Belize, February 6, 2009. The Second Caribbean Traveling Film Showcase will take place in Belize between the 15 and the 22 of February, 2009. The important event has been coordinated by the National Institute for Culture and History of the country and the Embassy of Cuba in the Caribbean nation. This year, the showcase will be dedicated to children and adolescents with films coming from 12 countries of the region. Preceding the showcase, and because of the ample reception that the showcase has enjoyed among the Belizean public, since the 1 of February various exhibitions have been held at the district capitals of the country. Another preliminary exhibit will be done in Belize City on the 7 of February. The event includes a workshop about cinema in the Caribbean with the attendance of national and international specialists. In 2008, the first showcase was a huge success in the country. The event will take place at the Bliss Center for Performing Arts, a modern installation with a capacity for over 250 people. The Exhibition has a schedule of day and night screenings and it will be attended, in coordination with the Belizean Ministry of Education, by students from many schools as part of their curricular activities for that week.
