CUBA, February 2, 2009. First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura heads a Cuban delegation that will participate in the celebrations for the tenth anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution in Caracas, Venezuela. In the past decade, Venezuela went through a deep process of political, economic and social transformations and became an important actor in favor of a just world order, multilateralism and solidarity. Meanwhile, Caracas has also worked for Latin American and Caribbean unity and integration. As part of these efforts, ALBA – an initiative for regional integration and cooperation – was launched in 2004 and it already comprises six countries of the area. The Granma note states that the presence in Caracas of the Cuban delegation will serve to express the gratitude, respect, admiration and support of the Cuban Revolution to President Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution. It will also be an opportunity to ratify the bilateral commitment to work together in favor of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti’s dream of a united Latin American and Caribbean homeland. The Cuban delegation to the celebrations also includes Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque; the Minister-President of the Cuban Central Bank, Francisco Soberon; and Osvaldo Martinez, President of the Commission of Economic Affairs of the Cuban National Assembly (ACN- Parliament). |
