CUBA, June 11, 2009. “I come to ratify Bolivia’s solidarity with the Cuban people and their Revolution,” said Bolivian president Evo Morales upon arriving at the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana on Thursday morning. Morales reiterated his admiration for the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. “I long to see him and to speak with him and also with President Raul Castro because I always learn something when we meet,” he explained. The South American head of state and government said that his government On a recent incident with the government of another South American country regarding a conflict with indigenous people, Morales added that those who have suffered the most in the history of Latin America should not be humiliated again as it happened in recent days. “We hope that this issue becomes a lesson to understand and to pay attention to the demands of the autochthonous peoples of the region in favour of life, the environment and the planet for the benefit of humanity,” he noted. Morales arrived on Thursday morning in Havana for a working visit at the invitation of his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro. The South American leader was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla. During his stay in the Caribbean archipelago, Morales will hold official talks with Raul Castro. His agenda also includes a varied program of activities. Cuba and Bolivia re-established diplomatic relations on January 11, 1983. Bilateral ties continue to strengthen based on the principles of brotherhood, solidarity and mutual respect.
