Belize, June 2, 2009. The ambassador of Cuba to Belize, Manuel Rubido, attended the inauguration ceremony of Belize’s Agricultural Show. The event is one of the most important in the country, with the attendance this year of farmers from Mexico. The ceremony was also attended by Sir Colville Young, Governor General of Belize and by The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Hon. Rene Montero. In his speech, Minister Montero highlighted the need to achieve sufficient national food production for the country. The Belizean minister thanked the Cuban ambassador for Cuba’s cooperation for many years in this sector. Currently a Cuban specialist works through FAO, at Belize’s Central Farm Unit, and an important cooperation actions have been accomplished in the sugar cane sector. (Cubaminrex - Embacuba Belize.) |
