CUBA, June 29, 2009. Honduran constitutional president Manuel Zelaya announced on Monday in Managua, Nicaragua, that he will return to his country, in spite of the ongoing coup d’état in that Central American nation. "I will fulfill my four-year term of office, whether you agree –the ones in favor of the coup – or not”, stressed Zelaya, who was kidnapped by hooded military and taken out of the country to Costa Rica and arrived on Sunday night to Nicaragua. I was expelled by force and will return on my own free will, said the Honduran constitutional president, who also invited the General Secretary of the Organization of American States, José Miguel Insulza, to accompany him in his return to Honduras. Zelaya will travel to the United States on Tuesday, following an invitation of the president of the UN General Assembly, Miguel D´Escoto, an organization that has also condemned the military coup d’état in Honduras.
