SURINAME. June 12, 2009. The Traveling Caribbean Showcase will be screened for the first time in Suriname this year (12-21 June). The Showcase is a traveling film festival with more than forty films from twelve countries and will be screened in more than 22 countries in the region. The Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase project is an initiative of the Cuban Institute of Film Art and Industry and the objective is to achieve cultural integration of the Caribbean nations. The Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase is a selection of films of Caribbean filmmakers living within and outside of the region. The theme of the Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase of this year is ‘youth’ and this perfectly matches their objectives. Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase this year has 42 films from the Caribbean and will travel to all other countries that have films in the selection. The films will also be screened in countries such as Canada and France. In the Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase this year six Surinamese film will be screened in which mainly young ones are the main focus. These films are Abigail of Justine Themen, Sarajan of Hennah Draaibaar, Deborah in Suriname of Helen Kamperveen, Cheomarra, 53 brothers and sisters van Mirjam Marks, Work, work, Work van Hester Jonkhiout and No Watra no Faya of Nina Jurna.(Cubaminrex- Embacuba Surinam) |
