Miracle Eye Care Saint Lucia, March 12, 2009. Cuban Ophthalmologists are back on island continuing the Miracle Eye Care program. The annual programme which recommenced on January 6th offers Saint Lucians an opportunity to test their eyes for free. The eye doctors have been visiting health centres around the island – last week’s clinics were held at the City Hall. The Health Ministry’s Press Relations Officer – Edward Belasse says clinics continue this week. Clinics run between 8 am and 4 pm. Belasse is urging the public to take advantage of the free services. People who have been screened and who require additional medical care will be assisted at the Eye centre of Excellence at the Victoria Hospital. The Centre was equipped by the Cuban government. It will allow eye surgeries that would have been performed in Cuba – an opportunity that no longer exists – to be performed in Saint Lucia. Story by Carmy Joseph (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Santa Lucía) |
