The morning TV program “Open Your Eyes” in Belize is dedicated to Cuba and had as a special guest the Cuban Ambassador to Belize Manuel Rubido. During the length of the program images of Cuba were exhibited and there was a broad conversation concerning the cooperation projects that exist between the two nations. Among them was Cuba’s medical cooperation through the comprehensive health program which has been implemented in Belize for a decade. Other issues discussed were the need to diversify the existing cooperation in compliance with the agreements of the XI Joint Commission between Cuba and Belize, in areas like education, agriculture and other important sectors. The program also dealt with Cuba’s advances in the tourism industry and the possibilities of regional cooperation in this issue. The hosts had good remarks toward the achievements of the Cuban revolution and its leader Fidel Castro. Another topic was the cruel and unjust blockade that the US maintains against Cuba and that was denounced by the Ambassador as the most flagrant violation of the human rights of an entire people in spite of the demands to end this policy acclaimed by the vast majority of humanity.
