Suriname, May, 4, 2009. On 7 and 8 May, 2009 the 4th Meeting of the Joint Commission Suriname – Cuba will take place in Havana, Cuba. The delegation which will be headed by the acting permanent secretary of the Foreign Affairs, Jane Aarland – Nanhu MPA, will have talks in Havana regarding the present areas of cooperation: education, public health, social affairs and agriculture. Also new areas of cooperation such as the management of archives and community development will be explored. The Surinamese delegation consists further of representatives of the relevant ministries, the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and the Advanced Teachers Training College. The Joint Commission Suriname – Cuba which was reactivated in 2006 meets yearly to discuss the implementation of areas of cooperation between both countries.(Cubaminrex- Embacuba Surinam)
