Raul Castro Meets with Barbadian Prime Minister


CUBA, May 13, 2009. Cuban President Raul Castro held a meeting with Barbadian Prime Minister David Thompson in Havana on Wednesday morning.

The two leaders discussed several topics in a friendly, frankness and respectful atmosphere that characterizes relations between Cuba and Barbados, and reaffirmed bilateral ties and the determination to continue strengthening them.

The two leaders addressed the challenges facing their countries, amidst the complex international situation.

A focus of discussion was cooperation between the two nations under the CARICOM framework, particularly in communications and transportation.

The Barbadian prime minister thanked Cuba for its help in health and education, and invited the Cuban President to visit his country. Raul accepted the invitation and ratified the Cuban people’s acknowledgement for many years of solidarity from the Barbadian people. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
