Suriname, November 9, 2009. The Anton de Kom University of Suriname and the Camilo Cienfuegos University of Matanzas are cooperating in establishing a master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering for the Anton de Kom University. The development of this program is part of an agreement signed by both universities in August 2008. With the master’s program, cooperation between both universities will increase in various areas such as academic exchanges, scientific research, and training for doctoral degrees. The duration of the program is three years. A professor from the University of Matanzas, Ramón Quiza Sardiñas, teaches the first module of the program in Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname. Some 22 professionals from different fields of industry and services in Suriname have signed up for the master’s program which started in October this year and will take until 2012. The cooperation that Cuba offers to the education sector in Suriname also includes assistance in learning Spanish as a foreign language. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Suriname) |
