Kenya, November 9, 2009. A LABIOFAM delegation, participated from 2 to 6 of the present month in the V Multilateral Encounter on malaria that is developed in this capital, where it set out the necessity of the integral and biological fight against the mosquitoes, vectors that transmit this one and other diseases. It criticized the indiscriminate use of chemical agents and particularly of the DDT in some countries, which is prohibited for being highly toxic and to affect the environment. Several foreign organizations and delegates endorsed the use of the biolarvicides as alternative for the fight against the malaria exposing their experiences in other countries like Ghana, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Gambia and Kenya. Also, they recognized the resistance to his generalized use, due to the interests of the great pharmaceutical transnational companies that operate in the region. The encounter that allowed the LABIOFAM representatives to debate on the present tendencies in the continent in a so sensible subject, served in addition to update the technical knowledge on the strategies to follow and to exchange with decisive international and regional organizations in the fight against this flagellum.
