CUBA, September 29, 2009. Zambia's President Rupiah Bwezani Banda and Cuba's Raul Castro held official talks at the Revolution Palace. Bwezani Banda arrived in Havana on an official three-day visit to this country. After the official welcome, the African statesman decorated Fidel Castro with the Order of the Zambian Eagle. Cuban President Raul Castro received the medal during a ceremony held at the Revolution Palace. The award was granted to the Cuban Revolution leader for being an inspiration to fight for dignity and freedom of humanity. Council of State secretary Homero Acosta read the words of gratitude. Recognizing the personal contribution to peace, independence, and development of Africa, Zambia pays tribute to thousands of internationalists who have fought and worked along with African brothers, especially those who lost their life in that continent, Acosta stated. The visiting delegation's agenda includes visiting sites of economic interest, and pay tribute to Cuban internationalists fallen in African lands and heroes of that nation. |
