Perez noted that at meetings with Uruguay’s Foreign Minister Pedro Vaz and President Tabare Vazquez, the two parties reiterated their willingness to continue expanding bilateral ties. Perez said that cooperation in the fields of public health and education, as well as technical assistance in the sugar cane industry, are an example of increased bilateral ties. Perez recalled the four political consultation meetings held since 2005, when the countries resumed diplomatic relations, in addition to the meetings of the Joint Economic and Technical-scientific Cooperation Commissions.
