First Vice-President Machado Ventura Meets with Paraguayan Foreign Minister. CUBA, August 30, 2010.- First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura met with Paraguayan Foreign Minister Hector Ricardo Lacognata, who is on an official visit to Cuba. During the meeting that took place on Sunday, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and ratified their governments’ willingness to continue strengthening bilateral ties. Machado Ventura thanked the visitor for Paraguay’s on-going support of the Cuban people and government’s struggle against Washington’s economic blockade and for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States. Lacognata was accompanied by officials from the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry, including its Director for Bilateral Policies, Roberto Benitez Fernandez.
