Cuban President Raul Castro Meets with Saint Lucia’s PM in Havana

CUBA, Jan 7, 2010. - Cuban President Raul Castro met in this capital with Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister, Stephenson King. After the official welcoming ceremony, the two heads of state greeted the members of their respective delegations at Revolution Palace, where they held official talks.

The First Vice-president of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, participated in the dialogue, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, in accordance with the excellent relations existing between Cuba and Saint Lucia.

The guest, who is also Saint Lucia’s minister for Finance, Affairs and Economic Planning, and National Development, arrived on Wednesday to Havana on an official visit, at the invitation of the Cuban President.

After his arrival, the head of state toured the city’s historical area and placed a wreath by the monument to Jose Marti at the Memorial named after the Cuban National Hero.

This is the second time the Caribbean leader visits Cuba. He will stay until Sunday and will fulfil a program of visits to places of interest.

King's first visit took place in December, 2008, heading his country’s delegation to the 3rd Cuba-CARICOM Summit. ( Cubaminrex- acn)
