HAITI, Jan 18, 2010 .- Over 70,000 deaths, 250,000 people hurt, and 1.5 million others homeless are the preliminary figures of the earthquake that devastated the Haitian capital and nearby cities, local authorities informed. According to the State Secretary for Literacy, Carol Joseph, over 70,000 bodies have been buried, but the exact number of victims is very hard to determine because thousands of bodies are still among the rubble. Authorities and humanitarian collaborators agree the death toll could exceed 150,000.
