HAITI, Jan 21, 2010. - Arrival of the 82nd Div. with M-16 rifles, copters and Hummers, characteristic of its military deployment, lead to wonder wheather Haiti is at war or was rocked by an earthquake. Two copters that landed on the gardens of the collapsed National Palace made thousands of quake victims in Champ the Mars think that relief had arrived. Instead, soldiers armed to their teeth and waiving way bystanders further concerned the quake victims with the military failure to supply desperately needed relief. Some 3,000 military from the 82nd Div. and 2,000 from the 2nd Navy Infantry Div. are supported by cruisers USS Carl Vinson, USS Underwood and USS Normandy, plus the Bataan copter carrier. The 82nd. Div. huge dossier on invasion of small island countries like Grenada (1983) explains the disappointment and concern their deployment in the devastated Haiti has unleashed.
