Cuba and Suriname to Strengthen Commercial Relations

CUBA, February 18, 2010. Cuba’s ambassador to Suriname, Andres Gonzalez, met on Thursday in Paramaribo with Robert Ameerali, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the main office of that institution.

During the meeting, the two parties expressed their interest in developing commercial exchanges between Suriname and Cuba, as well as in strengthening relations between their respective chambers of commerce, the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s web site reports.

They also reviewed the cooperation accord signed in February 2009 between the two institutions, with the purpose of expanding economic and commercial relations, developing scientific, and technical exchanges, as well as exchanges on computerization in trade.

Ameerali expressed his willingness of working with entrepreneurs from Suriname in the promotion of imports of Cuban products.

With regard to the International Book Fair underway in Havana, he highlighted that his country has been represented in the last three editions of the event. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
