Cuban embassy promotes cooperation tourism in Lampung, Indonesian. 

INDONESIA, July 29, 2010.- On the occasion of the 20 Festival of the Karakatau 2010, in the province of Lampung, Indonesia, and complimenting invitation of the Governor of Lampung, Mr. Sjachroedin ZP, during the 24 and 25 of July, 2010, the Ambassador of Cuba Jorge León, attended the opening ceremony of the Festival, the carnival of representation of the provinces of Indonesia and performed a visit to the volcano Karakatau. 

The Cuban diplomat received from the Governor of Lampung a replica of the monument of the Tower of Siger, and thanked his participation in these historic commemorations. 

The Tower of Siger, located in the mountain in front of the bay, mark the kilometer ZERO of the island of Sumatra and at the same time is considered the gate of entrance to the Island.  Besides, the Tower serves of guide for the ships that arrive to the port of Lampung and the ones that cross the concurred strait of Sunda, which connects the Sea of Java with the Indian Ocean. 

León took advantage to express, to the authorities of the Government of Lampung, of the Department of Tourism and to the reporters of press, that it was an honor to receive that replica in the year that coincides with the celebrations of the 50 Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Cuba and Indonesia, whose links are fortified constantly.  Besides, he emphasized that the extensive tourist potentialities of both countries can be developed in mutual benefit, all which will contribute to the enlargement of the know-how between the peoples of Cuba and Indonesia and to the strengthening of the excellent bilateral relations that exist among both countries. 

The bright opening statement ceremony of the Festival by the Governor, the festivities of the carnival and the visit to the volcano Karakatau, they were transmitted by the main local newscasts of TV, as well as by the national television channel of Indonesia "TVRI" (Television of the Republic of Indonesia) and Metro TV, of a national cover of more than 140 million viewers.
