South African Minister ff International Relations And Cooperation meet The Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

SOUTH AFRICA, July 29, 2010.- As culmination of the visit to South Africa of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Marcelino Medina, the Cuban official meet with the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ms. Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction for the positives outcomes of the 8th Meeting of South Africa-Cuba Consultative Mechanism and the interesting exchanges on matters of interest for both countries on regional and international fields. They also reflect on the convenience of the session dedicated to discuss the economic and scientific cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting with the South African Foreign Minister was also an important opportunity  to review the broad program accomplished by the Cuban delegation, which included meetings with the Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, the Secretary General of the ANC, Gwede Mantashe, the Member of the Politburo of the South African Communist Party, Solly Mapaila, as well as interactions with the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, members of the Friends of Cuba Society and with the Latin American and Caribbean Diplomatic Corp accredited in Pretoria.

As a result of the meetings some concrete actions were decided on to boost the bilateral relations between both countries which include the sign of new agreements of cooperation and exchange of visits to the highest level.
