Cuban President Meets with Salvadorian Foreign Minister and First Lady

Both parties expressed their satisfaction over the progress attained in expanding bilateral ties which were reestablished on June 1, 2009

CUBA, March 16, 2010. - Cuban President Raul Castro received Salvadorian Foreign Minister Hugo Martínez Bonilla and First Lady Dr. Vanda Pignato after a ceremony to inaugurate the Salvadorian Embassy in Havana on Saturday.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction over the progress attained in expanding bilateral ties which were reestablished on June 1, 2009 after Mauricio Funes, heading the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), won the national elections.

Among the other topics discussed during the meeting were the current challenges faced by both countries, and multilateral and international affairs, especially those related to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Also present at the meeting were Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Salvadorian Ambassador to Cuba Domingo Santacruz Castro. (Cubaminrex – Juventud Rebelde)
