Cubans in Namibia celebrate International Women’s Day

NAMIBIA, March 9th, 2010. - The members of the Cuban State Mission in Namibia – Embassy staff and cooperators –celebrated International Women's Day with a heartfelt function which served to pay tribute and deserved recognition to Cuban women and those from all over the world.

The members of the Cuba State Mission, headed by Ambassador Ana Vilma Vallejera, as well as different heads of collaboration groups and other collaborators in the capital, participated in the event.

The celebration took place at the meeting room of the Windhoek Central Hospital. It was a simple but formal function in which brief information about the origin and importance of the date was given and poems dedicated to our women were recited. At the end, a short documentary about the work and life of our most autochthonous flower, Celia Sanchez Manduley, was projected.

After the main function in Windhoek, the male members of the different brigades also congratulated their female partners with love and respect. They gave them flowers, cards, poems and told some funny stories. (Cubaminrex - EmbaCuba Namibia)
