Grenada’s FM Demands Lifting of US Blockade against Cuba

CUBA, March 2, 2010. -  Peter David, minister for Foreign Affairs of Grenada, demanded this Tuesday the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade maintained by the United States against Cuba for nearly five decades.

The chancellor made the statement at the end of working sessions of the 12th Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Cuba and Grenada that recently concluded in a department of the ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment in Havana.

Peter David told the press that Cuba started to carry out solidarity actions with his country by the end of the 1970’s during the term in office of late Maurice Bishop. In the following three decades, it has been very useful for the people of Grenada.

In the presence of Cuban Foreign Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, who signed bilateral agreements on the Cuban part with Grenada, David praised the supportive spirit and practice of Cuba towards his country and other nations of the world.

Working sessions of the 12th Joint Commission between the two Caribbean nations wrapped up this Tuesday with the signing of deals to broaden collaboration actions in the fields of health and education and to initiate others in the agricultural sector. (Cubaminrex - acn)
