Eusebio Leal Receives Doctor Honoris Causa Degree from University of Veracruz CUBA, November 19, 2010.- Havana Historian Eusebio Leal received the Doctor Honoris Causa degree from the Mexican University of Veracruz during a ceremony at the Main Hall of the University College of San Geronimo de La Habana on Wednesday. The award was presented by the rector of this Mexican higher education center, Raul Arias Lovillo, who said that Leal is an internationally recognized intellectual and a man of principles that advocates the ideals of his homeland. Upon receiving the award, Leal expressed his gratitude and pointed out that Cuba’s history could not be written without mentioning Mexico. Present in the ceremony were Cuban figures such as Culture Minister Abel Prieto; the rector of the University of Havana, Gustavo Cobreiro Suarez; and the president of the Casa de las Americas cultural center, Roberto Fernandez Retamar.
