Suriname Foreign Minister Visits Cuba CUBA, October 18, 2010.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Winston Guno Lackin, arrived Monday in Cuba on an official visit, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported. According to information, the Surinamese Foreign Minister, who travels to Havana for the first time, will talk with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez and other local leaders. Both countries established diplomatic relations on May 31, 1979, but after the U.S. invasion of Granada these links were frozen from 25 October 1983 until 12 May 1995. At present, Cuba and Suriname have ties of cooperation, primarily in the areas of public health, sports and vocational training (Cubaminrex-RHC).
