35 Cuban nurses to join the public health sector in Trinidad and Tobago

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, June 22, 2010.- 35 Cuban nurses arrived last January 28 to Trinidad and Tobago to work the public health sector. With the arrival of this group, 115 Cuban health professionals are currently working in different health facilities throughout the country, including Tobago.
These new nurses comprise the third batch of the third Cuban Medical Brigade of health workers to arrive in the country. They are specialized in the areas of community care, nephrology, operating theatres, intensive, emergency and neonatal care.
During the orientation programme at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port of Spain, Minister of Health of Trinidad and Tobago Mr. Jerry Narece and Cuban Ambassador, Mr. Humberto Rivero took the opportunity to welcome them.
The Cuban Ambassador assured that the 35 new Cuban nurses who have been added to T&T’s health sector will do their jobs well.
“Be confident that they would accomplish their duties in a very professional and ethical manner,” he said. And he added: “That is not their duty, but also the human way they were trained.”  “I assure you that through their work, the Cuban and Trinidadian bonds will continue to be forged,”
Minister of Health Jerry Narace noted that 35 Cuban nurses would be assigned throughout the Regional Health Authorities. Narace said there were excellent reports about the performance of the Cubans from both the local medical care providers and users. (Embacuba Trinidad and Tobago)
