Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez Meets with his Counterpart from Trinidad and Tobago.
The Cuban FM expressed his satisfaction for the visit of Rambachan, whom he assured it will serve to continue identifying common interests, consolidate achievements, and open new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. We’ll never forget that in 1972 –underlined Rodriguez- Trinidad Tobago was one of the four Caribbean states that broke new ground for the excellent relations we have today. The Cuban FM recalled Trinidad and Tobago’s permanent contribution in defense of the norms of the world trade system and international law, and against the extraterritorial implementation of laws and the US blockade against Cuba. For his part, Rambachan commented that he always wanted to visit Cuba and that although he has been in the country for scarcely 48 hours, he has been able to appreciate that Cuban reality is completely different from the one the international press portrays. Our country has benefited a lot from Cuban generosity –stressed the visiting FM-, in fields like agriculture and public health, among others. “Cuban physicians have made great contributions in the field of health, and agriculture experts are also helping us to develop skills in this sector, which is a priority area we want to develop,” he added. I’d like to ratify -.emphasized the distinguished visitor- that we will maintain our stance in support of Cuba with regard to the US blockade (commercial, economic and financial), because the treatment Cuba has received for so long has been really unfortunate, and we support these demands of the Cuban people. Surujrattan Rambachan and his delegation will participate on Friday in the 3rd Cuba- CARICOM Ministerial Meeting, underway in this capital. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
