VENEZUELA, December 2nd, 2011.- A paramount effort has just arrived to its most important moment at the opening ceremony of the Summit of Latin American and Caribbean Heads of State and Government, held at Teresa Carreño theater in Caracas, Venezuela. Embedded with the spirit of integration of our Latin American independentist heroes, presidents and dignitaries from 33 countries are in the Venezuelan capital, among them, Army General Raúl Castro, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba. Upon arriving this morning to Venezuela, President Raúl highlighted this was the first time we´ll have an organization of Our America, which constitutes the most trascendental event in two hundred years. Hugo Chávez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, received each of the mandataries attending the Summit. Later, the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, addressed the audience to express this was the hour of Latin America and the Caribbean but integration it´s most needed to go on. In his welcoming speech, Hugo Chávez, requested repect, equality and true freedom for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Heads of state and government will conclude the discussions this Saturday with the adoption of the Declaration of Caracas, in a historical event that will mark the beginning of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC, in Spanish).
