VENEZUELA, December 2, 2011.- The VIII Petrocaribe Summit will be celebrated in Miraflores Palace in Caracas, this Friday, December 2nd, as a continuation of the last meeting held in Saint Kitts and Nevis in 2009. Petrocaribe is a mechanism of energy cooperation proposed by Venezuela, supported by 18 Latin American and Caribbean countries, with a security agreement in that sphere which has contributed to the development of economic projects and social programs in different countries. Petrocaribe is expression of generous solidarity of the Goverment of Venezuela, especially President Hugo Chávez, who has provided oil at preference prices. The accord has helped member states to bear the effects of the world economic crisis and the oil high prices during the last years. (Cubaminrex)
