Chief Secretary of Tobago House of Assembly Meets With Cuban Ambassador
During the meeting the Cuban Ambassador thanked Mr. London the welcome extended and conveyed the appreciation of the Cuban people to the courageous decision taken in 1972 by Trinidad and Tobago, to break the isolation imposed against Cuba through the OAS and establish diplomatic relations with the island. The Ambassador also took the opportunity to give an explanation about the negative consequences of the criminal blockade imposed for more than fifty years to Cuba by the Government of the United States. Mr. Rivero also made mention the scholarship programme offered by Cuba to the third world countries, through which more than 30 000 students has been graduated from different Universities all along Cuba. The Cuban Diplomat expressed his desire that students from the island of Tobago benefited from that programme. Meanwhile Mr. London welcomed the visit of the Cuban Ambassador to the island of Tobago and his presence at the House of the Assembly. During the exchange Mr. London thanked the Cuban cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago, recognizing the presence of health workers in the island of Tobago. He also expressed his interest of extending the cooperation in other areas such as agriculture. Ms. Danielle Bourne, Protocol Officer of the Tobago House of Assembly and Mrs. Ana Silvia Rodríguez, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy also participated in the meeting.
