Cuban Athletes Attend Track & Field Meet In Jamaica

JAMAICA, April 18, 2011.- On Saturday afternoon, April 16, the Kingston National Stadium was the venue of an important international track and field meet sponsored by the University of Technology of Jamaica.
Athletes from various countries, including Cuba, which team was made up of 9 sports men and women (5 females and 4 males), who ran the 800m, 200m and 400m and the 4x400 relay, among other track events, took part in the competition.
The Cuban athletes had an outstanding performance, expressed in the several gold, silver and bronze medals won.
Such track and field events were watched by a large number of persons, including several personalities of the Jamaican society such as, Mrs. Olivia Grange, Minister responsible  for sports-related issues and Mr. Neville “Teddy “ McCook, president of the North American, CentralAmericanand Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC).
The Cuban State Mission was represented by Ambassador Yuri Gala, other Embassy staff members and some members of the Cuban Medical Brigade rendering professional services in this sister Caribbean country. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
