Cuban University Professor Attends UWI Regional Event in Jamaica
JAMAICA, 7 April 2011.- Vilma Díaz, a professor at the University of Havana (UH), took part in a regional event organized by the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) of the University of the West Indies (UWI, Mona Campus).
In the said academic event, held from 23 to 25 March at the “Pegasus” Hotel in Kingston, Professor Vilma Díaz presented a paper on the historical connection between Cuba and Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.
Such paper, to be published by the event’s sponsors, was well received by the audience, included members of the Cuban diplomatic legation, headed by Ambassador Yuri Gala and Counselor Marcial Melián.
The participation of Professor Vilma Díaz in the aforesaid event is part of the ongoing academic exchange between UWI and UH.
