Cuban Ambassador in Trinidad and Tobago denounces the shameful verdict in the case of Posada Carriles.
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, April 20th, 2011.- Humberto Rivero, Ambassador of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago appeared for 20 minutes on the popular morning program "First Up" of channel "C" of the “Caribbean New Media Group", to denounce the farce that took place in El Paso Texas that ended with the acquittal of the notorious terrorist Luis Posada Carriles.
Replying to the question of the journalists, Ambassador Rivero highlighted the sinister path of the terrorist and emphasized the complicity of the Government of the United States in this farce, given that the American authorities have all the evidence on the involvement of Carriles in the blowing-up in mid-air of a “Cubana de Aviación” airliner off Barbados in 1976, the bombing spree against Cuban tourist facilities in 1997 and his plans to attempt against the life of our Commander in Chief in Panama in 2000, for which he was even convicted in that country.
The Cuban diplomat pointed out that the position taken by the United States contradicts the anti-terrorism policy that the US government is said to profess and noted as a paradox that while on one hand a confessed criminal is being acquitted, on the other the Government of the United States remains unjustly imprisoned five Cubans anti-terrorist for collecting information about the actions perpetrated by terrorist of Cuban origin who, like Posada Carriles, are walking free and with impunity down the streets of Miami.
During the interview the journalists informed the public that officials from the U.S. Embassy in Port Spain were contacted to know their opinion on the subject and to give them the opportunity to explain their positions, but they declined the offer. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Trinidad and Tobago)
