Nigerian Trade Unions against the Blockade and in Favor of the Freedom of the Cuban Five.

NIGERIA, August 4, 2011.- The Nigerian trade unions in the farewell ceremony organized to the outgoing Cuban Ambassador in the country Elio Savón Oliva, argued for the elimination of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and for the freedom of the Cuban Five unjustly in jail in that country.

The Joint Secretary of the Labour and Civil Society Coalition (LASCO), Aremu Abiodun, recalled the words stressed by the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) last May 1st, on the need to put an end to the blockade exercised by U.S. against Cuba. He also expressed the unjustly imprisonment of the Cuban Five in the U.S. by confronting terrorism.

LASCO is comprised by the two main trade union umbrellas in the country, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as well as the Joint Action Forum. (Cubaminrex
