VENEZUELA, December 2, 2011.- Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba is in Venezuela to participate in the Summit during which the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC, in Spanish) will be officially created. After his arrival this Friday to the International Airport Simón Bolívar, President Raúl was welcomed by Venezuelan Vice President Elías Jaua, and he received the corresponding military honors. President Raúl Castro expressed: “I bring a salutation from our people and specially from our Comander in Chief Fidel Castro to the Venezuelan people and I congratulate you for this transcendental event”. Raul Castro also expressed that for first time in history we´ll have an organization for Our America;adding that if successul, it can be considered the most important event in 200 years in the independency of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Cuban President stated he was satisfied and happy to be in Venezuela and be able to salute President Hugo Chávez, while lamenting it was not Fidel the one to attend the Summit because he is the one who deserves so.
