Association of Cuban Residents in Bahamas “Ismaelillo” celebrated its III Anniversary.

The Bahamas, January 31, 2011. Cuban Residents met members of the Cuban Mission in The Bahamas on Saturday, 29 January, 2011 to celebrate the third Anniversary of the Association of Cuban Residents in the Bahamas "Ismaelillo" and the 158 Birthday of the Cuban National Hero José Martí.

The celebration took place at Goodman Beach in Nassau, and it was headed by the Cuban Ambassador, Jose Luis Ponce Caraballo. The Association "Ismaelillo" was founded on January 28, 2008, in honour to Cuban National Hero Jose Martí.

During the meeting, the Cuban Teacher Pedro Garrido Valiente remarked the good relationship that there is between the Cuban Community and the Embassy in The Bahamas at this moment. “Ismaelillo should support the Cuban people in defending the image of Cuba, fighting against the Blockade and demanding the release of the Cuban FIVE, who are unjustly in US jail for fighting against the terrorism”, expressed  Garrido Valiente.

Horacio Pelayo and Oneysi Portorreal, president and vice-president of the Association, recalled some of the main events that have been done in three years and praised the support of the Embassy and the Ambassador Ponce during all this time.

In November, 2010, Silvia Irene Blanco, member of the Association "Ismaelillo", attended on behalf of the Cuban residents in the Bahamas, the First Meeting of Cuban Residents in the Caribbean Region that was celebrated in Jamaica. (Cubaminrex - Embacuba Bahamas)
