Alarcon Meets with the President of the Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies.
After welcoming Bogado, Alarcon recalled that this is the seventh occasion that the South American politician visits the island. In a fraternal atmosphere, the two parliamentary leaders recalled important aspects of the history of Paraguay, which on May 14 will celebrate the bicentenary of its independence. Previously, the 44 year-old Electronic Engineer gave a lecture on the important date to students and professors of the University of Havana. Bogado has been a professor at several universities in his country, a task he abandoned to carry out his political career in the Colorado Party. On several occasions, he has directed electoral campaigns of his political group as well as legislative commissions, in addition to being parliament president three times. His accompanying delegation is made up by Luis Carlos Neuman, First Vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies of the South American nation; Aida Robles, secretary; and Elvis Balbuena and Julio Mineur, all of them deputies for the Authentic Radical Liberal Party. After its arrival in Havana on Tuesday, the group has met with some of the island’s authorities and has toured places of historic, scientific and social interest, as part of its agenda before its departure on Sunday.
