Finance Minister and COP Party Leader meets Cuban Ambassador TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, February 8, 2011.- Representative Winston Dookeran, Minister of Finance and Leader of the Political Party Congress of the People (COP) received last Wednesday 2 of February the Cuban Ambassador in this island, Humberto Rivero Rosario. The Cuban diplomat stressed the priority that Cuba attaches to its relations with the Caribbean countries and convey the willingness of the Cuban Government to continue strengthen the political, commercial and cooperation relations between the two Nations. He recalled the words of the Minister when presented the draft budget of the country before the Parliament, in which he pointed out that the historical sites of Trinidad and Tobago should be protected and cared for as it is in the case of the Old Havana in Cuba, and in that sense express the compliance of the Cuban authorities to consider their cooperation in this area. Minister Dookeran thanked Cuba for the cooperation provided to Trinidad and Tobago, inter alia in the area of health and expressed his interested in promoting cooperation with the Cuban authorities in different areas including academics, culture and heritage preservation.
